HONOUR HER
( HONOUR NATURE )
We build monuments in memory of deplorable “leaders”,
to remember victories or defeats, to condemn tragedies
or celebrate findings.
Given the number of victims from animal species and ecosystems that we caused,
as well as the number of victories we still need to re-establish a balance, the absence
of monuments and art devoted to the environment
that originated us is a striking example of
our deplorable list of priorities.
It would not be inappropriate for architecture to devote time and creativity to express
poetically our bond with nature and reflect on our delicate situation
concerning nature.
I. OPEN THE RUINS. MATERIALIZE THE RUPTURE.
III. A WILD, ALMOST DESTRUCTIVE NATURE.
IV. CREATE INNER LANDSCAPES.
V. PALIMPSEST. THE TESTIMONY OF SCARS.
VI. WHEN SCRAPYARDS BECOME OUR
QUARRIES AND LANDFILLS OUR FORESTS.
VII. THE LEAST SOPHISTICATED ASPECT OF THE SOLUTION.
VIII. HONOUR HER (HONOUR NATURE).
IX. BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE.
X. A STRUCTURE FOR HOMO LUDENS.
XI. TELL THE STORY.
XII. MAKE ARCHITECTURE AS (IF YOU WERE) NATURE.
